Week 2: Cold water spray

Finish your showers with 30 seconds of cold water.
We know water has been utilized for its therapeutic power as far back as Ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt, and it’s very likely that it was used long before that time as well. It may seem somewhat obvious and intuitive that varying temperatures of water have differing effects upon the body. The feeling of relief you may get from placing a cold wash cloth on your forehead on a sweltering day is actually a physiological response taking place within your body. Your circulation changes. Initially, the blood vessels in the local area of the cold application vasoconstrict, and the blood vessels at a distant site dilate. This moves blood out of your head, which can help relieve the vascular congestion in the head. (more…)
